Despite sharing the same waisted Auditorium shape, Martin's 000 defaults to a shorter scale and the OM to a longer one, a real difference in string tension and hand feel.
Martin's 000 and OM share the same waisted shape, which is exactly why they're easy to confuse β but across the current lineup, the 000 typically runs a short 24.9-inch scale while the OM runs a longer 25.4-inch scale. Exceptions like the 000-15M, whose scale doesn't match its name, make it risky to judge hand comfort from the body name alone.

Martin 000-X2E
An entry-level build combining a spruce top, HPL back and sides, and a Martin E-1 pickup on a 000-14 fret body. The short 24.9-inch scale and 1 3/4-inch nut shorten the distance your fingers travel between chords, making it worth trying first if you have smaller hands or are still building up chord-change speed. The HPL back and sides also ease worries about humidity swings.

Martin 000-10E Retro
Keeps the same 24.9-inch scale and 1 3/4-inch nut but switches to sapele back and sides. Since the hand-friendly short scale carries over unchanged, playing it against the 000-X2E is a clean way to isolate the subtle tonal difference between sapele and HPL. The Martin E-1 pickup means it's ready to plug in for a gig.

Martin 000-10E Retro Sapele
Same scale and nut width as the 000-10E Retro, but the top switches to sapele as well. A different top wood won't change the hand feel, but an all-sapele build tends to respond a bit more calmly than spruce, which some players find eases the effort needed to get volume out of it. It's a useful pair for separating scale-driven hand comfort from top-wood tone preference.
