A winter ranch guide that weighs the scenery against road, wind, and closure conditions before you go.
A ranch that's all green pasture in summer turns into an entirely different place once snow settles in. Snow-capped ridges, wooden fences, and low winter light are reason enough to visit, but high-altitude ranches see stronger wind and longer-lasting ice than the city does. This list gathers snowy-scenery spots around Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang, Taebaek, Hongcheon, and Gapyeong, along with clear winter pastures further south and on Jeju.
A snow forecast doesn't guarantee snowy scenery when you arrive, and heavy snowfall can shut down access roads, shuttles, gondolas, or activities before anything else. Check road closures, closure notices, and last-entry times the day before and the morning of, and don't push a trip without snow tires or chains. Waterproof shoes, gloves, and an ear-covering hat make even a short walk far more comfortable.
