The Gangneung–Sokcho coast rewards riders who plan around resupply spacing and crosswinds before chasing the full distance
Riding from Gangneung to Sokcho with the sea always on your right sounds simple enough. In practice, hidden hills between harbors, national-highway-style roads, and strong crosswinds drain your legs faster than the distance alone suggests. So instead of chasing a mileage record, this list is built around places where you can actually stop, refill water, and check your bearings — split into three legs: Gangneung to Jumunjin, the Yangyang beaches, and Yangyang to Sokcho.
The order follows the real direction of travel, starting at Gyeongpo and heading north to Sokcho. Beach boardwalks and promenades are largely pedestrian space, so dismount the moment you see a sign telling you to. If you're riding one-way, confirm ahead of time which transit options will actually let you bring the bike home.
