From Tsurugaoka Hachimangu to the sunset views at Inamuragasaki, here are eight essential Kamakura stops β and how to sequence them into one manageable day.
Kamakura is close enough to Tokyo for an easy day trip, but a quick search turns up a tangle of shrines, temples, beaches, and backstreets that can make it hard to know where to start. On a first visit, you're better off sketching a rough shape for the day β shrines and temples in the morning, coast and viewpoints in the afternoon β than trying to cram in every landmark you've seen online.
These eight stops are ordered to fill in that shape. You don't need to hit all of them β narrowing down to two or three of the Kamakura Station, Hase, and Yuigahama areas is more than enough for a satisfying day.
